Dangerous Foods for Pets
The life of your pet may be a secret, but you know what shouldn’t be a secret? The food you SHOULD NOT feed them. Here are 7 foods to keep away from your favorite furry friend:
Pretzels, chips, and anything salty: Snacking on some salty popcorn while watching your favorite movie sounds like a great time, but make sure your pet doesn’t get into that bowl of popcorn. That’s because consuming large amounts of salt can cause vomiting, diarrhea, depression, seizures, and even death.
Nuts: Don’t let your pet get “nutty”. Almonds, pecans and walnuts all contain high levels of oils and fats that may cause vomiting, diarrhea and pancreatitis.
Avocados: This food is a favorite treat – guacamole, anyone? But feeding your bird avocados can cause cardiovascular damage and even death. Now, that’s not a fun taco Tuesday.
Grapes and Raisins: Their unknown toxic substance can cause kidney failure in dogs. Sounds sketchy. (Good thing he’s not a dog).
Milk/Dairy: Unlike humans, pets don’t have enough of the enzyme in their bodies to break down the lactose found in milk and dairy products. So, always remember, feeding your pet dairy = diarrhea… that you will have to clean up. Gross!
Chocolate, coffee, and caffeine: Basically the good stuff for us humans, but the bad stuff for them. These foods contain a substance found in cocoa seeds that can leave your pet with a range of symptoms from panting and hyperactivity to even seizures and death.
