3. HCG diet

The HCG diet combines calorie restriction with the injection or supplementation of human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG). HCG is not approved by the FDA for weight loss and it does not help combat obesity, curb appetite or promote long term weight loss.

4. Artificial sweeteners

Several studies have actually found a link between artificial sweetener use and weight gain.

5. Restrictive dieting

Restrictive diets have been shown to promote eating in the absence of hunger… leading to more pounds not fewer! On the other hand, eating when hungry is associated with reduced BMI, lower triglycerides and reduced risk for heart disease.
