Science and nutritionists have been singing the praises of raw honey for a while now. But Manuka honey takes it to another level entirely.
Here are some of the reasons you may want to make it a part of your daily diet:
1. Anti-bacterial qualities
Manuka honey was found effective in stopping the growth of the sore throat-provoking strep bacteria. The honey has also opened up new research possibilities for combatting the antibiotic resistant MRSA bacteria.
2. Tooth and gum health
One study gave volunteers manuka honey products to chew on for 10 minutes three times a day after each meal. They found that the people taking the manuka honey products had a 35% decrease in plaque. As well as a 35% decrease in bleeding in those who suffered gingivitis.
3. Intestinal balance
Clostridium difficile, a gut bacteria related to overgrowth and acid reflux, has been found to be vulnerable to Manuka honey. Just make sure whatever the Manuka honey you get is certified UMF 12 or higher.
