Should you eat a daily dose of collagen?
Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body. It adds strength and resilience to skin, hair and nails. Used as an anti-aging ingredient in beauty products, it’s now being added to foods; powders, supplements, bottled drinks and noodles to name a few. And more people are eating up the craze, claiming it reduces wrinkles. But there are no added benefits of collagen over other protein sources. It breaks down to amino acids in digestion like all proteins.
Collagen is not harmful to eat and occurs naturally in foods such as chicken, fish skin and shark fin.
