Holiday season is all about parties and cozying up by the fireplace on a cold winter night. But all those hors d’oeuvres and hot chocolate can really put a damper on your diet.
Here are 3 tips to avoid winter weight gain:
1. Make a workout schedule and stick to it.
I get it… Some days when it’s freezing and dreary you just want to throw on your PJs and hang out on the couch. But don’t fall victim to that temptation. Instead, buy some workout equipment that you can easily store at home like a yoga mat, a light pair of dumbbells, a medicine ball and a jump rope. That way if it’s too chilly outside at least you can do a quick workout in your living room. Another tip: try exercising in the morning BEFORE work. You’ll feel accomplished before even stepping foot into the office.
2. Eat a healthy meal
Fill your plate with fruits and vegetables before going to your office holiday party. Filling up before the event means you’ll be less tempted to pick at the party food being passed around.
3. Take it easy on the alcohol.
When you’re drinking you’re less likely to make healthy eating choices. Booze is also packed with extra calories. So try to have a glass of water after each alcoholic beverage to help pace yourself and lessen the calories.
Remember though, its okay to indulge every once in a while, just don’t make it your new holiday tradition.
