Your Sleep Habits Are Making You Fat

Not catching enough zzz’s at night? Being tired may not be your only problem! That scale could start creeping up fast!

A new study finds people who only snooze for 3 1/2 to 5 1/2 hours at night. Eat, on average, an extra 385 calories the following day.

That’s like eating an extra McDonald’s cheeseburger, plus more! Even worse, sleep deprived participants consume more fat and less protein. Researchers believe sleep deprived men and women overeat because they’re seeking pleasure to offset exhaustion.

But more research is needed to determine the exact cause. Remember though, quality sleep plays a key role in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Along with eating a nutritious diet and exercise. So make sure to clock in 7-9 hours of shut eye per night.
