Zinc Up Your Immune System

Forget vitamin C!

When it comes to keeping your immune system in tip-top shape, zinc might be the mineral you should take for maximum protection.

The benefits of zinc include helping to regulate the immune system by contributing to the activation of T-cells, which attack invader cells. Also, studies have found that zinc lozenges can minimize the effects and length of an oncoming cold, as long as they’re taken within 24 hours of feeling the first symptoms.

The recommended dietary allowance for zinc is 11 mg per day for men and 8 mg per day for women. Foods that are good sources of zinc include: oysters, beans, whole grains and nuts.

Add them to your diet on a regular basis to receive all the glorious benefits!
